Hearing Support Centre

Introduction

The Hearing Support Centre (HSC) of the Alun School is a resourced centre for deaf pupils from Flintshire and its neighbouring counties.

The medium of communication used by staff and pupils is Total Communication. The emphasis on the various elements varies according to the needs of the individual pupils. For some, the main means of communication is through listening and speaking while for others it is through the use of sign.

The high level of support provided by the centre makes it possible for each pupil to take full advantage of all aspects of school life, regardless of hearing loss or other learning difficulties.
